TYPO3 CMS

The TYPO3 CMS crew has been working hard on the major topics this week with a focus on performance, stability and adding the last bits of the puzzle with regards to file and package handling, enabling TYPO3 CMS to use Composer-based packages out-of-the-box. The possibility to install distributions as pre-packaged flavours of the core packages has been introduced with the latest beta, released two weeks ago.

Themes

Last week we wrote about T3DUST and Themes. The '<link http: www.startnext.de en typo3-theme-packages>Theme Packages - Basis for TYPO3 CMS Design-Themes' fund raiser is running until March 6 and can still use your support. Read all about it on the page and consider your support.

Release parties

If anything the release of the upcoming Long Term Support version needs to be celebrated. The TYPO3 CMS crew chose 'Here To stay' as the motto for the upcoming release and a <link http: wiki.typo3.org release_party typo3_6.2>WIKI page to find or add your favourite party has already received several entries. <link http: wiki.typo3.org release_party typo3_6.2> A release party can be anything from an informal get together in the bar to a full blown party with pizza, beer and fireworks. As long as the topic it is TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS. Don't be shy and <link http: wiki.typo3.org release_party>add your release party. Events

Internet World

With a number of enthusiastic volunteers we were at the CMS Garden booth at Internet World in Munich this past Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a good opportunity to meet up with the Munich TYPO3 crowd. Many people were very interested in TYPO3 Neos. Thank you: Stefan Busemann, Patrick Lobacher, Sandra Hofmann and Guido Haase for representing TYPO3!

TYPO3camp Italy

From March 14 – 15 the <link http: www.t3campitalia.it>TYPO3camp Italy will take place in Milan, effectively making it the first TYPO3camp of the year (not <link http: www.typo3campvenlo.nl>TYPO3camp Venlo as stated in a previous This Week).

Meet Magento and CMS Africa

Strange as it may sound I will visit <link http: es.meet-magento.com>Meet Magento in Madrid on Tuesday and Wednesday. Many Magento shops use TYPO3 and it is a good opportunity to have a first connection in Spain. The Spanish language area is big and we do not have to much activity there yet. Besides that fact the Meet Magento events are organised by <link http: www.netresearch.de>Netresearch's Thomas Fleck, who sponsored a few TYPO3 conference video's. Together with Thomas I will be travelling to CMS Africa Summit. <link http: summit.cmsafrica.org>CMS Africa Summit will take place from March 7 – 8 in Nairobi, Kenya. The event wishes to bridge this gap by organizing conferences across the African continent that will bring experts from different leading CMS-es to offer workshops, lectures and hands-on on different issues ranging from installation, customizations, updates, security enhancements, backups, extensions, modules, and other related issues. I will do a presentation about how the TYPO3 project evolved into a family of products in order to respond to change. <link http: summit.cmsafrica.org index.php speakers>My speaker profile gives some more info on this. The marketing team also decided to sponsor this event.

CMS Garden at CeBIT

From March 10 -14 <link http: www.cebit.de>CeBIT will take place again. <link http: www.cebit.de en cebit-2014 _blank>CeBIT is the world’s leading business IT event. In 2014 CeBIT is all about business and will take place from March 10 - 14 in Hannover, Germany. <link http: www.cms-garden.org _blank>CMS Garden is an initiative where you will find all the relevant open source CMS-es in one place. You can compare, evaluate and decide. CMS Garden is a community driven event where attendants are not shy to share ideas and help each other out.   We have a good representation of people for the event in our 120 m2 area. Nevertheless we would like to see ore of the TYPO3 community represented at the CMS Garden booth. If you are willing to join in, for let's say a few hours or half a day, we welcome you to the booth and will provide you with a ticket for the CeBIT. <link>Send me a mail with some details about yourself and the day you are planning to come and I will get back to you with the details on how to participate.
Check out the events calendar for a user group meeting, code sprint or other event near you: <link http: typo3.org events>typo3.org/events/. Do not hesitate to share you TYPO3 activities in 'This Week in TYPO3'. Just let me (@benvantende) know what you are up to.
