The call for community budget ideas for the fourth quarter of 2025 is open. Submit your idea before 8 September 2025. Decisions will be announced at the end of September.
About the TYPO3 Idea Budget in 2025
The TYPO3 Association has changed the idea budget from a single annual budget to four quarterly budgets. The goal is to have a faster process in proposing, voting over, and finishing the ideas.
With a quarterly budget we are able to adjust to changing demands faster and give community members an opportunity to submit ideas four times a year, rather than once. The idea budget comes on top of the team budgets and the other budgets of the TYPO3 Association.
To simplify the application process, we've moved away from hourly rate calculations and have defined fixed funding amounts you can request:
- €1,500
- €3,000
- €5,000
- €7,500
- €10,000

These are derived from the product’s strategic goals:
- Focusing on target customer groups (public sector and SMEs)
- Reducing complexity,
- Enabling better content
- Improving customer-oriented communication and interconnectivity
- Providing high ROI through long-term support and easy maintenance
- Supporting customer and agency success
- Improving scalability.
Your ideas and contributions are crucial in shaping the future of TYPO3!
Integration With TYPO3 v14 Development Plan
At the end of 2025, the development of TYPO3 v14 will be nearing the feature freeze. All ideas that should be part of the next TYPO3 version must have a mentor from the Core Team. To ensure the feature is merged into the core during quarter four, the mentor continuously reviews the implementation, ensuring that it is in accordance with the TYPO3 development guidelines.
Project Implementation
If a budget idea is granted, the recipient must finish the project by 15 December. The Business Control Committee (BCC) will review the outcome of the idea and if the goal of the idea is reached, the budget will be paid out to the recipient.
To support successful project delivery, the BCC will assign a BCC member as a mentor to each funded project. Mentors will provide guidance on various aspects, including budgeting, project planning, communication, and fostering connections within the TYPO3 Community. Our aim is to empower you to achieve the best possible results for the TYPO3 ecosystem.
Rules for Submitted Ideas
- The results of the idea must be publicly available.
- The results of the idea should be aligned with the TYPO3 v14 high-level objectives and strategic goals, and generally foster and benefit the TYPO3 community and/or TYPO3 project.
- The idea should not directly generate funds for the applicant nor enable the applicant to generate earnings from it.
- Per applicant, only one budget per quarter will be granted
- The idea and deliverables cannot be changed once the member voting has started.
- The idea must name an advisor from the Core Team to review the development during quarter four (if needed).
The BCC will review the applications. If the idea requires collaboration with a team or another community member, we will get in contact with all parties and discuss how it can be achieved in the best possible way. The same applies to similar ideas.
We strongly encourage all applicants to discuss their ideas in the Community Budget Ideas 2025 Q4 category at talk.typo3.org before submitting. This collaborative environment allows for valuable feedback and refinement of your proposals.
Process for Q4/2025
We invite the community to submit their project proposals within the next 14 days. The BCC will review and publish the submitted ideas. Subsequently, TYPO3 Association members will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred projects. The top four ideas, based on the voting results, will be granted funding for implementation during the fourth quarter of 2025.
We have a total of €40,000 available for the ideas. Unused funding will be used in the following quarters. You can apply for funding in each quarter. Individuals and teams can also apply.
Tip: For larger projects that might exceed a single quarter's time frame, consider breaking them down into multiple, focused idea applications across different quarters.
