Recap: TYPO3 Marketing Team Sprint Q4 2025

Categories: Event Report, Marketing Created by Myrna Gönnemann
The TYPO3 Marketing Team wrapped up its final sprint of the year in Berlin on 22 October 2025. The team came together to collaborate on concepts, plans, and communication materials for TYPO3 v14, aligning on how to best present the next major release to our various audiences.

Preparing the Path for TYPO3 v14 and Beyond

Our Q4 sprint was all about the communication strategy around TYPO3 v14 and how we can establish a consistent approach to preparing and promoting the upcoming LTS release in April. This sprint not only helped us develop a concept for version 14, but also lay the foundation for future versions that everyone can work with and where everyone is pulling in the same direction.

A key part of our discussions centered on themes and storylines for the upcoming version. Building on the creative foundation established at T3DD25 with the pixel heroes, we decided to use these characters one last time to conclude their story with the v14.3 LTS release. This “hero’s journey” aligns with the ongoing message of “The future starts now”, connecting TYPO3’s past achievements with a fresh new chapter.

Defining a Clear Release Communication Concept

Building on this foundation, we discussed how to structure the release communication, including defining key messages, timing, and formats tailored to different audiences such as agencies, developers, and end customers.

Our discussions centered on:

  • Defining how TYPO3 v14 should be positioned and communicated, emphasizing TYPO3’s long-standing strengths in trust, dependability, and the quality expected from a professional CMS while showcasing its ongoing evolution
  • Looking at our different target groups and their needs, and exploring how we can adapt our content and messages to speak more directly to them
  • Evolving the communication style toward a more product- and business-focused tone while keeping our community roots visible
  • Finding ways to inspire customers to upgrade by showing the value TYPO3 delivers and creating excitement around the new release
  • Exploring how TYPO3 can communicate more visually and accessibly, using videos, presentations, and easy-to-share resources to reach broader audiences

In addition, we planned a series of feature-focused presentations and release materials for TYPO3 v14, including blog posts, social media assets, feature videos, and ready-to-use content. These materials will be available for agencies, partners, and the community to help promote TYPO3 and support their own client communication.

A Focused Team Effort

This sprint brought together a compact yet highly focused group, combining participants from TYPO3 GmbH with valued contributors from the wider TYPO3 community. Though small in size, this setup allowed for concentrated collaboration on strategy, messaging, and planning for the TYPO3 v14 release.

The TYPO3 Marketing Team currently consists largely of members from TYPO3 GmbH, a reflection of the company's role in providing continuity, structure, and execution capacity for TYPO3’s marketing activities. This ensures that core tasks such as release communication, content production, and long-term brand development are handled consistently.

At the same time, we deeply value the input and collaboration from our community, agencies, and partners. The presence of external contributors in Berlin brought a fresh perspective and helped align our work with the needs and expectations of the broader TYPO3 ecosystem.

Looking Ahead

The results of this sprint laid the foundation for a more strategic and coordinated communication process for future TYPO3 releases. In the coming months, we will focus on putting these concepts into practice as we move toward the TYPO3 v14 LTS release in April 2026, ensuring that our messaging, materials, and timing are aligned to make TYPO3’s next chapter as impactful as possible.

The Marketing Team will continue to work on release materials, sales enablement resources, and communication assets that will be shared with agencies and community members through typo3.org/project/press.

We are proud of the progress we made in Berlin and look forward to continuing to refine how we tell TYPO3’s story consistently, clearly, and creatively with every release.
