Sponsored bug fixes during bug auction at T3BOARD08

Categories: Community Created by Ingmar Schlecht
On this year's TYPO3 Snowboard Tour in Laax a bug auction was held in which people could bid for their favourite bugs to be solved. It was a fun event - combined with the task of the attendant developers to actually solve the bugs in question right afterwards.

One of the benefits of bidding high during the auction was to be named in this very news article, so here is a list of the companies sponsoring the bugs as well as the bugs which were fixed:

Thanks to all of you!

By the way, the currency of bids was DrinkDollars (DD), which had a fixed exchange rate of one DD equaling 5 Swiss francs and could only be spent on the bar at the same night. As the total amount of 711 DD was too high to be spent by just the developers, they decided to invest it into a free bar for everyone that night.

Ten out of the total eleven bug fixes were committed later the same night (most of them were no-brainers) and the patch for the remaining one was developed the day after.

Special thanks goes to Lars Houmark, who moderated the show as Auction Master, and to the developers Patrick, Thomas, Peter, Ingo, Kasper, Sebastian, Robert, Michael and Ingmar.

Because of the throughout positive feedback, it is very likely that this event will be done again at other events, e.g. the upcoming T3CON 2008 in Berlin.

By the way: The TYPO3 bugtracker provides a simple way for sponsoring bugs. Give it a try!
