Results: Key Additions and Updates
The aim of the Seamless Deployment project was to make the existing documentation on deployment more practical, easier to understand, and more complete.
Not only was existing content revised, but completely new topics were also introduced, including a few highlights:
Revised content: Classic installation
The instructions for classic installations (e.g. via FTP/rsync) have been supplemented and optimized for beginners.
New content: Docker containers
A comprehensive introduction to the use of Docker with TYPO3 has been created, including instructions on configuration, everyday use and specifically on the deployment of Docker setups.
Revised content: Deployment tools
The chapter on deployment tools has been expanded and now covers common tools such as rsync, Deployer, Git and Composer — with practical examples and best practices.
New content: Automated deployment
This new chapter introduces automated deployment and demonstrates how TYPO3 can be seamlessly integrated into modern CI/CD processes.
New content: Versioning with Git
A dedicated section on using Git for TYPO3 projects has been added to the documentation, explaining how versioning supports deployment processes.
Revised content: Admin area and user management
As part of the revision, the existing chapters on user and rights management in TYPO3 Explained have been improved and clarified.
Test Week With Realistic Infrastructure
Following our interim report, a test week was held in June to ensure that the new documentation is effective in practice. Community members were able to put the revised content through its paces under real conditions.
Feedback from the testers was fed directly back into the project, with unclear formulations being revised, missing intermediate steps being added, and technical details being explained in more depth. The result is a comprehensive and practical guide covering a wide range of deployment scenarios.
Thank You to All Our Supporters and Testers!
A big thank you goes to all testers who invested their time and provided valuable feedback. We would also like to thank jweiland.net, Mittwald, and nexaa.io for providing the necessary hosting infrastructure for the test environments — without their support, the testing phase would not have been possible.
