On 1 November 2023, we launched the community budget process for 2024. For quarter 3, TYPO3 Association members were asked to vote on their favorites. As a result, the TYPO3 Association has granted budgets totaling €30,500 to four ideas. Two of these granted budgets are successors of budgets granted in quarter 1 or 2, which proves the important value of these projects for the TYPO3 community.
Overall Voting Results
Summary of the Four Selected Ideas
- The integration of EXT:paste_reference into TYPO3 core by Ephraim Härer will create copy and paste references of elements in TYPO3 backend instead of inserting copies. (€3,000)
- ACL presets for extensions by Łukasz Uznański would like to implement a system that allows the author of an extension to deliver access presets for extension models and custom fields. This is the third part of our plan to improve ACL management in TYPO3. (€10,000)
- Documentation indexing and search improvements by Marcin Sągol is aiming to improve documentation indexing and search as well as improve the user interface. (€10,000)
- Funding for implementing Rector & Fractor rules by Simon Schaufelberger plans to migrate most existing rules which where thrown away with the new TYPO3 Rector release to Fractor Rules and provide a way to not only migrate PHP files but all different file types that TYPO3 uses. (€7,500)
What Happens Now?
The winners will now start to work on their projects. They will be supported by the Business Control Committee (BCC). The people responsible for each idea project will report about their progress at typo3.org. If they succeed, they will be paid their allotted budget.
From the BCC’s Point of view, all ideas would have been worth funding. Having a look at the voting results, we do see favorites, but the results in the main field are very close and a few more votes could have changed the overall results. We encourage all participants of the first idea rounds to take part in the round for the last quarter of 2024. The call for ideas will be announced 1 August 2024.
The first results of the Q2 budgets are already presented at TYPO3.org. In the following weeks results of all selected Q2 budgets will be published.
