An Important Commitment. The German, Frankfurt-based digital consultancy comwrap is now both a platinum member of the TYPO3 Association and a Full Service Business Partner of TYPO3 GmbH. Their decision to simultaneously join the two top-tier offerings is a firm statement of support for TYPO3 CMS, and an unambiguous signal to their clients.

TYPO3 Association Announces Community Membership at €7.92/year. Memberships in the TYPO3 Association should not be a question of personal economy or exchange rates. It should be the member’s engagement for the CMS platform that counts.

Drupal evangelist Jeffrey A. McGuire shares a session with TYPO3 leader on “threats to open source”. For the first time, a representative from a competing open source provider will speak at the Drupal Conference in Baltimore, USA.

TYPO3 CMS version 8 LTS is now available. The release features major speed improvements and easier workflows for everyday tasks. The TYPO3 CMS core team will support this Long-Term Support version for three years. Built on PHP version 7, the CMS version delivers a great increase in speed compared to previous versions. PHP 7 is on average twice as fast as PHP 5.6.

The TYPO3 Association introduces a special membership type for universities and research institutions. Many academic institutions worldwide are already using the Content Management System (CMS) TYPO3. In Germany alone, approximately 460 public and private university websites are based on the CMS.

Karlsruhe-based punkt.de increases its commitment to TYPO3 and happily joins as the sixteenth TYPO3 Platinum Member. Starting in February 2017, punkt.de changed its status from TYPO3 Association Gold Member to TYPO3 Association Platinum Member.

In November 2016 Mathias Bolt Lesniak was elected as first assessor of the TYPO3 Association by the Expert Advisory Board. He takes over the responsibility for the press and communications work from Olivier Dobberkau, who held this position as interim for a year.

As part of this year's TYPO3 Conference Europe T3CON16 in Munich, the TYPO3 Association presented this year's International TYPO3 Awards. The prizes recognize the most creative and user-friendly web projects created using the open source content management system TYPO3. Among the winners are the Stasi-Mediathek, which documents the work of the GDR’s former secret police in videos, pictures, audio material and texts, the Donations page of the DRK (German Red Cross), and the Internet portal of 1. FC Köln. The prize for “Website of the Year,” which the independent expert jury voted on for the first time, was accepted by the TYPO3 specialists from the agency DFAU for the Fit Reisen website.

TYPO3 CMS8 was presented for the cloud today at the TYPO3 Conference that is currently being held in Munich. Starting now, users can test TYPO3 on Platform.sh. The TYPO3 Association and the cloud hosting company Platform.sh are cooperating on offering the open source CMS in the cloud as well. Platform.sh offers its users a public cloud solution via Microsoft Azure Germany that also saves sensitive data securely in German data centers.
