Let's face it: The future of TYPO3 relies on attracting new talents and fostering the next generation of developers, designers, and project managers. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, it's critical to keep TYPO3 innovative and relevant — and we can't do that without the energy and creativity of young professionals who will take TYPO3 forward.

This highlights the significance of events like the TYPO3 Surfcamp, which foster collaboration and inspire the next generation of professionals.

Following the success of last year, we are excited to announce the Surfcamp will also take place in 2025: 3–10 May. Once again, 30 spots are available for young professionals, 30 years and younger, from diverse international backgrounds, including PHP developers, frontend developers, designers, UX experts, marketers and project managers.

Building the Future of TYPO3

Traditional meetups are valuable, but they don’t always resonate with young professionals looking for something more engaging and collaborative. TYPO3 Surfcamp fills that gap, providing an inspiring environment where work and play come together.

The TYPO3 Surfcamp is about shaping the future. It’s not just about coding, it’s about building the relationships and networks that will drive TYPO3 forward. By participating, you’re actively contributing to the platform’s ongoing evolution and ensuring that it remains relevant in an ever-changing digital landscape.

For companies and participants, this is a rare opportunity to invest in the future of TYPO3 — and to have a whole lot of fun while doing it.

Looking Back: TYPO3 Surfcamp 2024

In April, 30 participants from across Europe — ranging from frontend and backend developers to designers and project managers — came together in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain, for a week of collaboration, learning, and — yes — surfing.

The goal? To contribute to the development of TYPO3 by creating the first six official TYPO3 presets to be part of TYPO3 v13.4 LTS. These presets were designed to make TYPO3 more accessible, offering ready-to-use installations for different use cases like public sector intranets, restaurant websites or sports clubs.

But the real takeaway wasn’t just the work — it was also the sense of community. From day one, participants bonded over their shared passion for creation and collaboration. And, of course, there was surfing! Each morning, they swapped laptops for surfboards, returning to the day’s coding sessions with fresh energy and focus.

What You Can Expect in 2025

TYPO3 Surfcamp 2025 promises to be just as impactful — and just as fun — as last year’s edition. Throughout the week, participants will collaborate in international, cross-functional teams, working closely with TYPO3 mentors. It’s a chance to learn from experienced professionals while actively contributing to the TYPO3 project.

Don’t worry, it’s not all work and no play. You’ll also be catching waves, relaxing in the sun, and enjoying the landscapes of Fuerteventura. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, you’ll find the perfect balance between work and play. Evenings will offer a chance to unwind with group dinners, beach walks, and casual chats at the hotel bar - perfect for meeting new people and forming long-lasting connections.

How You Can Get Involved

With only 30 spots available, TYPO3 Surfcamp 2025 offers a unique opportunity to get involved in the TYPO3 community and make a meaningful contribution. Encourage your team to apply — they’ll come back with fresh skills, ideas, and connections that will benefit both your organization and the broader TYPO3 ecosystem.

Applications are now open, so don’t miss out on this chance to be part of TYPO3’s future — one wave at a time.
