R&D Committee plans development of TYPO3 4.0

Categories: Development Created by Robert Lemke
One month after publishing the roadmap for the upcoming TYPO3 releases the Research & Development Committee now organizes the development of TYPO3 4.0.
Finalizing the roadmap The roadmap for version 4.0 already contains a lot of new features and major releases of important extensions. If you would like to add another feature to our list and take care of its realisation, you're welcome to discuss it at the new R&D mailing list. Especially if your suggestion fits into our theme for the next releases which aims on improving usability we are curious to hear from you! The deadline for the 4.0 roadmap is the 5th of September 2005 but bigger projects have to be planned as soon as possible. Apply for supporting your project  For the first time the TYPO3 Association is able to offer you support with the realisation of your project. Generally if you are working on a project which helps to finish unfinished parts and/or does away with annoyances (Zap the Gremlins) you may apply for support by the R&D committee. Support can be provided in many different ways: By providing knowledge or information, by organizing core development or help with finding sponsors. A limited amount of projects will be supported financially, depending on their eligibility for sponsoring by other organisations and the priority assigned to their goals. Application deadlines  If you would like to apply for support of your 4.0 related project please do so until 5th of September 2005. Applications for development related to version 4.5 must be brought in until 1st of December 2005, projects related to 5.0 until 1st of March 2006. It is important that most of the projects for 4.5 and 5.0 are planned as soon as possible, so we can plan the budget for the next year. The application process More details about the application procedure can be found on the R&D committee pages. The Administration committee is currently fixating the whole decision process and will publish the results in the protocol of the General Assembly. About the R&D committee  While the different teams (Core development team, Security Team, Bugfixing Team, ...) work on a more detailed level, the R&D Committee keeps an eye on the long term perspective of developement and makes sure that the various projects fit together and meet our common goals. More about the R&D committee can be found <link http: association.typo3.org>on their pages at the TYPO3 Association website.
