Now the first step towards a unified template for all official TYPO3 sites is done and we can brainstorm for a concept which makes development and distribution of HTML, CSS and TypoScript templates easier. If you have ideas for a technical solution which allows the TYPO3.org team to work on the templates with several people and deploy the result in an easy way, join us at the typo3.org team mailing list.
