STATUS OF THE EAB

The first part of our meeting has been a short introduction into the current work and progress of the EAB. Through the last weeks, we have mostly worked on the budget process, while trying to support the current budget owners.
Overall we're getting into shape, and are getting prepared for taking care of the new budget applications.

THE NEW BUDGET PROCESS

The new budgeting process comes with some fundamental changes to improve the overall process in several aspects.
The EAB would like to support the applicants and budget owners as much as possible, while keeping track of the overall performance. To achieve more transparency, more and better communication is needed, as well as tracking of each projects status. One of the reasons is, that we want to ensure, that funds will not expire. Of course, we hope developers are not discouraged by the slight increase of communication and administration necessary.

Some important key points to mention: To achieve better transparency, all budgets will be published on forge.typo3.org and can be discussed there. A public polling will take place to find out about priorities of the TYPO3 community. So take your chance and help improve the next years budget.

BUDGET OWNER CHANGE

We also discussed how to handle the eventual changes of budget owners. Generally, the budget owner is responsible for the project. He needs to take care of the invoices and the overall budget being available to the whole team.
In case a new budget owner is found, the new budget owner should take over these responsibilities. Both should also get back to the TYPO3 Association, so that the new budget owner is able to approve incoming invoices.

COMMUNICATION

Lately there have been various communication issues in and around the TYPO3 Association. This mainly concerns communication by mailing lists and comments in news and/or blogs. We agreed to making the "Code of Conduct" present again (https://typo3.org/community/code-of-conduct/). Generally a few things have been tried during the last year but one of the most important tools still seems to be the mailing lists.

To further optimize the T3A mailing lists, we will change “t3a-members” to read only. This will be the list for official announcements. People lately requested to be removed, because of the many absent messages. This is not good, because we would loose the only direct channel to our members. By making the list read only, only few public emails will be sent.

Still “t3a-about” is open for writing, so this list can be used for discussions between members and the TYPO3 Association.

NEW NAME FOR A NEW CMS

TYPO3 Phoenix will be launched soon and we did not decide on a name for this next big thing, yet. We not only want to find a name for TYPO3 Phoenix, but also want to develop a good naming scheme for all products of the TYPO3 community. A concept is currently being prepared and in this phase many teams are taking part in the discussions already. Feedback has been gathered from the Branding Team, the Marketing Team, as well as from members of the v4/v6 and TYPO3 Phoenix team. The TYPO3 Association also had a chance to give feedback.
