Community Budget Report: Pinned Content Elements

TYPO3's New Page Content Element window shows options for different content types on the left and a list of pinned items, including "I am pinned | Header Only" and "Birthday list | Header Only," on the right.
Georg Ringer provides an update on his Community Budget for Q3/2025: In the third quarter of 2025, I had the opportunity to work on a new extension which improves the workflow for editors.

Background and Goals

This project began as the idea, Favorite Content Elements. The aim was to help editors do their work faster by customizing the content wizard to their needs. By letting them save, reuse, and copy frequently used elements through a smarter wizard interface, the project speeds up content creation and reduces repetitive work.

Introducing the extension

The TYPO3 Extension, Pinned Content (pinned_content), enhances the TYPO3 content element wizard with pinned items, templates, and personal pin lists for faster editing.

Impact for Editors

Editors can extend the Content Element Wizard to their own needs. They can:

  • Reference existing content elements to use them as templates or copy them directly.
  • Create content elements with custom titles and descriptions..
  • Pin any content element using a new icon in the toolbar.
  • Use pinned elements as a base for new content.

Stronger Editing Experience

Thanks to community budget funding, TYPO3 now has a new extension that reduces complexity and helps editors create better content faster.
