For 2015, the TYPO3 Association wants to revise the way we do community management. Therefore we are calling out a competition for concepts for community management. Our aim is to have an open application phase for concepts for community management.
Community management was introduced through the Steering Committee of the TYPO3 Association in 2009 and is a valuable and necessary service towards the TYPO3 community. In the last five years our community has grown and we think that it is good to open up our minds for new ideas.
What are potential tasks for community management?
Community Management involves many tasks - seen and unseen. Some of them are logical like:
- Increase community - motivate new people.
- Diversification - gender & internationalization.
- Guide new people into the teams.
- Recognize and solve conflicts.
- Interconnect teams.
- Optimize workflows.
- Being the contact from the teams to Social media handling and reports (this week in TYPO3).
- Present the Association in the community.
- Represent the community internationally.
What do we expect from the competition of concepts?
We are hoping that we can choose the best fitting concept for our TYPO3 community. There are many possible ways community management can be done in the future (a single person, a team, half time / full time).
What does this mean for the current community management?
The Community management is - like with all budget based tasks, teams and projects - funded until the end of this year. In 2015 the Association will fund the best concept.
What are the next steps?
We will create a staffing committee with members of the TYPO3 community and TYPO3 Association. The application phase will start in September and we expect to select the best concept in October. All details to enter your application are published at the beginning of September.
