From September 10th-12th the 5th International TYPO3 Conference T3CON09 took place in Frankfurt, Germany. More than 350 people from 30 different countries participated and the conference can be considered a great success.
This year for the first time the conference featured 3 instead of 2 conference tracks and a total of 33 talks, 6 tutorials and numerous bird of a feather sessions were given.
Topics of the talks ranged from case studies for clients like EMI Music, Henkel or SEB Asset Management to technically more sophisticated presentations explaining the TYPO3 V5.0 content model or the use of Extbase.
In the context of the conference several "mini-events" took place and enriched the overall TYPO3 experience. Wednesday evening the Frankfurt TYPO3 Usergroup FTUG invited conference guests to an international usergroup. Thursday evening a ride on the "Ebbelwein-Express" (an old tram which was exclusively rented for TYPO3) was a nice sightseeing event and opened the opportunity to try the typical Frankfurt "Apfelwein" (apple wine).
The social event on Friday evening took place on the 25th floor of the hotel and allowed a spectacular view over Frankfurt during sundown and night. Once more the social event was one of the conference highlights where new friendships where made and having fun was top priority.
The results of the Best Paper Award reflect to a great deal the topics in which the community is currently mostly interested. This years winners are: 1st place went to Jochen Rau and "Get into the FLOW with Extbase" 2nd place for Sebastian Kurfürst talking about "Fluid – Templating made easy" 3rd place was awarded to Jens Hoffmann & Björn Brockman for "The radically new interface for TYPO3 5.0!"
T3CON09 was a great success in many ways and the virtual conference motto "next year everybody brings one new attendent" seems promising hearing all the positive feedback.
A great thank you to all participants and see you next year!
To improve next years conference even further, we have set up a small survey for all conference attendents. If you have been participating the conference, please go to the <link http: t3con09.typo3.org overview t3con09-survey _blank>T3CON09 survey and tell us your opinion. To make participation more fun, you can win one TYPO3 Toaster which was given out as a speaker present.
