Packt Publishing has recently announced the Open Source Awards for 2010. TYPO3 is nominated for the Open Source CMS category
In previous years the award was called the Open Source Content Management System (CMS) Award. As the new name suggests, the award is now opened up to a wider range of Open Source projects. Packt is still committed to Open Source Content Management Systems however and this is illustrated by the Open Source CMS and the Hall of Fame CMS categories. Ofcourse TYPO3 is nominated this year and will compete against a number of growing CMSes in Open Source in the Open Source CMS category. The winner of the Open Source CMS category will win a $2,500 prize fund, while the First Runner-Up will receive $1,000 and the Second runner-Up $500. This means that, providing TYPO3 goes through to the final, the project is guaranteed some of the 2010 prize fund.

The top 5 nominated projects in each category will be named finalists. You can vote starting on September 27 and running through November 5. The results will be announced November 15. The first requirement is to get TYPO3 to the final voting stage and this largely depends on the support provided by the TYPO3 and Open Source community.

Ofcourse we will remind you when voting for your favorite CMS is open.
