Afterwards, at around 6pm, the TYPO3camp Berlin 2013 was finally started at the SAE. The meet and greet was accompanied by the traditional T3Kicker table soccer tournament. It has been played in three preliminary rounds with random partners and a playoff round with a fixed partner, until we had our T3kicker champions, who gladly took their trophies home. Everyone was having a good time chatting, challenging each other and having a drink or two. Once the tournament was over, we made some last preparations for the first real camp day, before we finished off for the day at about 11:30pm.
The next day (Saturday, May 11th) started with an introduction and with working out a session plan. A variety of interesting topics, ranging from frontend-related ones (responsive frameworks) to more backend-oriented ones like Varnish caching and Extbase programming, were chosen and scheduled for one of four possible rooms in the SAE Institute. After all the scheduled sessions were finished, a bus shuttle drove the TYPO3 crowd to a boat landing where a chartered steamboat was waiting to take them through the city of Berlin and further towards the location of our evening event at "Insel Berlin" in the district of Treptow-Köpenick. On the little island the participants were served some tasty burgers before the darkness sneaked in and a warm campfire was inflamed where the remains of the crowd gathered. We had some more fun chatting, drinking and this time even making music!

Bayrisch für Anfänger (Bavarian for beginners) On Sunday, the last day of the camp, we started off with working out another session plan during the breakfast. Once everything was scheduled, 16 more sessions were held, one of which was about the much anticipated release of Jo Hasenau's Gridelements 2.0 extension. But there were also deployment and other coding-related topics covered. The 2013 TYPO3camp Berlin then was closed with a giveaway for the speakers and a contest for the best session of the weekend which was voted to be the ridiculously funny workshop "Bayrisch für Anfänger" by TYPO3 core team lead Oliver Hader and Robert Zierhofer. They received a huge trophy and will be trying to defend it on the TYPO3camp Stuttgart in a couple of weeks. Good luck! After everyone had helped dismounting the tables and benches we concluded an exceedingly successful TYPO3camp Berlin. We're really looking forward to see you all again in 2014!
