The SOAP interface was introduced more than 15 years ago, for managing and uploading extensions. TYPO3 version 4.5 was the last version when you could upload extensions via the TYPO3 backend.
What Is the SOAP Interface?
The SOAP interface allowed you to manage and upload TYPO3 extensions in the TYPO3 backend version 4.5 and below.
Some third-party packages like the TYPO3 Repository Client by Claus Due, and the TER Client by Helmut Hummel still relied on the SOAP interface.
Alternatives to the SOAP Interface
With the deactivation of the SOAP interface in July, you have two options to upload TYPO3 extensions to the TYPO3 Extension Repository:
Web Form
- Head to extensions.typo3.org.
- Log in with your my.typo3.org user account.
- Go to My extensions.
- Click the Upload button in the row of the extension key you want to upload.
- Add an upload comment and the zipped extension.
Tailor CLI Tool
The tailor CLI tool can be used in different ways, e.g. as a GitHub Action, as part of a GitLab pipeline, or running on a local environment.
Many Thanks
We would like to extend big kudos to all developers establishing, maintaining, and improving the SOAP interface, as well as to the people creating third-party solutions using it.
Also, we want to thank Oli Bartsch from b13 for creating tailor and the corresponding REST interface.
