Carrier failure causes outages on typo3.org infrastructure

Categories: Community Created by Jan-Hendrik Heuing, Sebastian Kurfürst, Luc de Louw

Due to an unplanned power failure at our network carrier, the data center where some typo3.org subdomains are hosted have been completely offline from June 24 04:37:15 UTC+2 to June 24 19:28:48 UTC+2

Affected services have been:

  • The official mailing lists (lists.netfielders.de) and newsgroups (news.netfielders.de)
  • news.typo3.org and buzz.typo3.org web sites
  • www.typo3.com website and its 3rd level domains such as edu.typo3.com and gov.typo3.com

The typo3.org server admins, in particular Jan-Hendrik Heuing have investigated and worked on this issues during this Sunday.

The carrier was working on renewing the UPS (Uninteruptable Power Supply) in order to enhance the service. Unfortunately something went wrong during the operation. The root cause of this outage is being investigated and measures will be taken to avoid such inconvenient situations in future.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
