BAAR, 2011-01-26. The TYPO3 Core Team and the TYPO3 Community are proud to announce TYPO3 Version 4.5 LTS – the first "Long Term Support" release of TYPO3. This release will be maintained for the next 3 years and guarantees maximum compatibility and a long lifespan for your website.

During our daily work with the TYPO3 backend we usually notice quickly that the page module lacks one major feature: It does not reflect the actual layout the page has got in the frontend. We just got a number of four default columns, which can be renamed, reduced or extended, but after all they are still just columns positioned side by side without any true layout.

Tonight the TYPO3 community released the third release candidate of TYPO3 4.5.

FLOW3 is up to a challenge at this moment. Robert, Karsten and Andi are in Nürnberg participating in Plat_forms 2011. "Plat_Forms" is a contest and competition in which top-class teams compete to implement the same requirements for a web-based system within two days, using different technology platforms.

The DAM team met again to prepare for the Long Term Support version of TYPO3.

On Friday the last Bug Day before the release of TYPO3 4.5 took place. It was very successful in reducing the number of open issues for the next release.
