Today, the TYPO3 community released the third alpha version of TYPO3 4.6. We continue on track to reach the goal of releasing the next major release of our CMS, TYPO3 4.6 --rebase, in October 2011. This alpha version is the last "developer snapshot" to show the progress so far before the first beta version.
What happened so far?
Thanks to Developer Days last week and a few ad-hoc workshops, every developer now switched to Git and Gerrit. This was the opportunity to discuss some more features to be included into TYPO3 4.6.
During the next weeks we expect final requests for introducing new features and major improvements for the beta1 release that will mark the feature freeze of TYPO3 4.6 --rebase:
- Feature Freeze: August, 2nd 2011. No more feature after this date.
The release plan for 4.6, the schedule and the planned projects are detailed in the project wiki on forge.
For details about this particular release and the current progress, please read up on:
We also have an introduction package for alpha3, which allows testing the new features right away on a fresh installation. Experienced users can of course opt to upgrade an existing installation to the new 4.6alpha3 version, but keeping in mind that this is still a snapshot of our development so far, and more changes and fixes will be included in further releases.
