Introduction to Solr for TYPO3 (Guido Schmechel)
Guido gives us an introduction to Apache Solr and explains what the TYPO3 Solr Extension is needed for. He also goes into the installation of Solr and shows which versions of Solr and the extension go together. Furthermore, he explains the Solr admin area and the configuration of the extension via TypoScript, because this controls how pages and other records like news are indexed. Further topics can be the necessary scheduler tasks, stopwords & synonyms, AutoComplete and the search statistics.

Using Solr in TYPO3 plugins for content output (Daniel Siepmann)
The Solr extension can do much more than just display a search box and search results.
It can also be used in own plugins to output large amounts of content in a structured way.
Daniel Siepmann introduces us to how Solr is used at a social science news portal to relieve editors of a lot of work but still leave possibilities for individual design.
Daniel introduced the concept behind this kind of content output in a blog post back in 2016. In a video released a few days ago, he now shows the possibilities in the front- and backend.
In his MTUG talk, Daniel will explain it to us again in detail and then also show us code examples of how it was technically implemented.
