On the Road to FLOW3 1.0 Beta 1

Categories: Development Created by Karsten Dambekalns

You might be wondering what happened to FLOW3, more than six months after the last alpha release. So let's shed some light on the current state.

After the last alpha we decided the next release would be the first beta. And it will be, only it took longer than anticipated. Not because we're lazy, but because we implemented some more really cool stuff.

Some of the reasons for the delay and insights into current development efforts can be found in Robert's blog post on the "roadmap and missing features" for beta 1 (see link below). The current planning can always be found at the project roadmap in Forge (see other link below).

Anyway, the point of this news item is to assure everyone out there: yes, there will be a first beta version of FLOW3 1.0 sooner rather than later. And for everyone trying out FLOW3 without much success: the heavily outdated documentation is being updated and amended this very moment, so it is fit for that upcoming release. That includes the Getting Started tutorial which we have removed for the time being - it caused more confusion than anything else.

Stay tuned, it'll be a fantastic release!
