TYPO3 GmbH: The TYPO3 Service Company

In 2016, the TYPO3 Association founded TYPO3 GmbH (colloquially “The TYPO3 Company”), a fully-owned service company providing support and services.

The company is also facilitating the development of the CMS.

The TYPO3 GmbH headquarters are located in Düsseldorf, Germany, and the company currently employs 5–10 people full-time. The CEO is Mathias Schreiber, and the company’s highest authority is the Supervisory Board, consisting of member elected by the Board of the TYPO3 Association.

The Association’s Executive Branch

The company was created as an executive branch of the TYPO3 Association, acting on the goals and ideals of a professional open source software vendor.

The TYPO3 Association is one of the few open source software projects running a commercial community-owned company. This solution makes it possible to combine commercial goals and community-driven project.

Providing Commercial Services

The TYPO3 GmbH takes care of commercial services, such as extended support plans, service level agreements, and partnerships with agencies and industry.

The company is not in competition with agencies using TYPO3 CMS, but provides additional supporting services, such as presales services, project reviews, and marketing for the content management system.

Finances and Ownership

The company’s initial capital came was seeded from the TYPO3 Association’s capital and voluntary additional Association membership fees. The company has an operating capital of EUR 105,000, and it is 100% owned by the TYPO3 Association.
