TYPO3 CMS 7 Backend : Page View

TYPO3 CMS 7.X

TYPO3 CMS poses almost no limits to configuration options and granular permission management. With the user admin menu, admins can simulate other users to see if their settings are correct or help clients with their features.

View Module

TYPO3 CMS 6.2 Backend : View Module

TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS

TYPO3 CMS 7 Backend : View Module

TYPO3 CMS 7.X

This module shows a preview of the selected web page as it will appear in the Frontend. You can edit page content directly on the previewed page. To preview your web pages in different screen sizes (e.g. phone or tablet) just change the viewport section at the top of the preview module.

List Module

TYPO3 CMS 6.2 Backend : List Module

TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS

TYPO3 CMS 7 Backend : List Module

TYPO3 CMS 7.X

This module shows all the content records stored for all items, templates and extensions used on the page. As some extensions (e.g. the news extension) save records on a remote page or in a system folder, the List Module is useful for viewing and editing these otherwise hidden records.

Additionally the list view also supports the ability to sort and mass edit its entries. Underneath the table listing every user can choose a range of additional fields they want to show or edit in the list view. Also a special localization mode, a clip board and an integrated content search is available.

User Setting

In this module backend users can edit their personal setup details including name, username, email address, password, backend language (more than 50 languages are available) and backend layout preferences.

When adding a new content element the editor can choose between different content types. Page content types can be changed at any time from the pull-down 'Type' menu and you can use multiple content elements on the same page.

Rich Text Editor

The Rich Text Editor (RTE) allows WYSIWYG editing of the page content. Resembling other word processors, users find the RTE intuitive to use. Administrators can configure the RTE to customise the buttons available, display stylesheet classes and filter unwanted HTML etc.

File Management

TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS Backend : Filelist

TYPO3 CMS 7.X

File management is an integral part of the system. Files can be uploaded, renamed, copied, moved, deleted, even edited online. Other information such as size, date of upload and file type is shown with the image. Selecting an image folder enables a thumbnail view. Administrators can configure TYPO3 CMS to mount any path on the server and then allow certain backend users/groups to store files in those folders with comprehensive access control options.

Image Editing

TYPO3 CMS 7.X

In TYPO3 CMS you upload your images to a single location (see: filelist) at their original size. When editing a content element, the picture size can be assigned to the content element you're working on and the system will crop/scale the picture to the given size. The click-enlarge-option allows the user to see a bigger version of the image, e.g. with a nice design inside an image lightbox (as used here). This means your editors can upload one image, then use it in a variety of places and sizes without having to manually upload several differently sized versions!

Frontend Editing

TYPO3 CMS 7 Frontend : Frontend Editing

TYPO3 CMS 7.X

The frontend editor provides an intuitive, context-oriented way of editing content directly on the frontend of the website. (WYSIWIG: What You See Is What You Get). You have to be logged in into the backend for the frontend editing to work.

Access Module

TYPO3 CMS 7 Backend : Access Rights Management

TYPO3 CMS 7.X

The access module provides an overview of the permissions of every user and/or usergroup. EG. a user or usergroup can be given permission to edit properties of selected pages, but not for deleting those pages. The same applies to page content and can be applied to individual types of content elements and even individual fields.

Extension Manager

Administrators have the potential to expand the TYPO3 CMS core functionality by installing third party extensions. With the extension kickstarter wizard the framework for new extensions can be built very easily. A basic frontend output can be quickly created, though of course further programming is necessary to add your required functionality.

Install Tool

The Install Tool ensures an easy installation and upgrade process of TYPO3 CMS. With it, many of the powerful features can be configured, e.g. the image rendering engine and many other configuration parameters. The Install Tool also provides tools for analysis and bug-tracking of the installation.
