TYPO3-EXT-SA-2011-008: Several Vulnerabilities in extension SmoothGallery for TYPO3 (rgsmoothgallery)

Several vulnerabilities have been found in the following third-party TYPO3 extension: rgsmoothgallery

Component Type: Third party extension. This extension is not a part of the TYPO3 default installation.

Affected Versions: Version 1.5.1 and below

Vulnerability Types: Cross-Site Scripting, Information Disclosure

Severity: High

Release Date: 07.09.2011

 

Problem Description: Failing to properly sanitize user input, rgsmoothgallery is susceptible to Cross Site Scripting. Additionally it was possible to get hold of every file that was accessible to the webserver user.

Solution: An updated version 1.5.2 is available from the TYPO3 extension manager and at typo3.org/extensions/repository/view/rgsmoothgallery/1.5.2/.
