TYPO3-EXT-SA-2012-002: Information disclosure vulnerabilities in extension "Front End User Registration" (sr_feuser_register)

It has been discovered that the extension "Front End User Registration" (sr_feuser_register) is vulnerable to information disclosure

Component Type: Third party extension. This extension is not a part of the TYPO3 default installation.

Affected Versions: Version 2.6.1 and below

Vulnerability Type: Information disclosure

Severity: Medium

Release Date: February 23, 2012

Problem Description: In the edit perspective, the password of frontend users is delivered in plaintext. The autologin feature uses a GET redirect which includes username and password.

Solution: An updated version 2.6.2 is available from the TYPO3 extension manager and attypo3.org/extensions/repository/view/sr_feuser_register/2.6.2/. Users of the extension are advised to update the extension.
