November’s diary of the TYPO3 Association

Categories: Association, Diary of the TYPO3 Association Created by Naike Schulthess
The Agency Meetup Days, the budget applications and process, and the regular meeting of the Board and EAB in Karlsruhe have kept the TYPO3 Association busy last month.
6 November - TYPO3 Agency Meetup Mannheim Christian Händel from the <link http: typo3.org teams marketing _blank to typo3>marketing team met with 14 TYPO3 agencies' representatives in Mannheim for one of the last TYPO3 Agency Meetup Days of 2014. Even though the largest strike of 2014 of the Deutsche Bahn didn't allow other team members and some of the enrolled guests to make it to Mannheim, Christian, in the role of moderator, had another chance to collect numerous creative ideas and crucial feedback on the TYPO3 products and on the work of the TYPO3 Association. 13 November - Agency Meetup Paris The TYPO3 Agency Meetup road trip ended in Paris. Alain Veuve and Olivier Dobberkau have met with 14 TYPO3 users, who were glad to be able to express the French viewpoint, as well as to contribute to the improvement of the TYPO3 ecosystems in general. 24 - 25 November - Combined Board and EAB Meeting in Karlsruhe The <link http: association.typo3.org board ref assoc _blank to typo3 association>Board and the <link http: association.typo3.org expert-advisory-board ref assoc _blank to typo3 expert advisory>Expert Advisory Board (EAB) of the TYPO3 Association met again in Karlsruhe for the fourth and last combined meeting of the year. Previously known as CEBAB, this gathering is desperately trying to change its identity and to find another name. Day 1 The first day of the combined meeting was mainly aimed at reporting and analysing the current situation of the TYPO3 Association. The main points of discussion have been:
  • a need for improved communication between the TYPO3 teams and budget owners and the back office
  • a better membership system is needed for better administration. With the growth of the number of members, address management and accounting have to be improved. Moreover, a complete system can help in managing donations and sponsorship in a more attentive way
  • the clean up of the accounting system and of the number of open invoices has been a long process, but it is now heading to an end. We lost some members on the way, but we hope to improve on this aspect for 2015
  • Danijela Weissgräber has been working closely during the whole year with Fink & Fuchs, a PR agency. Numerous articles and interviews have been published during 2014. We aim at creating a collection of them on the TYPO3 Association website
  • the executive secretary has been fully installed and the Naike's job description has been completed during the last months
  • for what regards the topic of Community Management, the report underlined that there has been a timeline created by the T3A Board for the implementation of a new concept for Community Management in 2015, two articles have been published by Ric van Westhreenen, and a budget application was also submitted to the EAB's attention
  • Alain Veuve finally reported on the outcome of the Agency Meetup Days, which took place in 10 different European cities: Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Copenhagen, Munich, Paris, Utrecht, Bern, Mannheim. Through these events Alain and the TYPO3 Marketing Team have been able to meet in person with ca. 200 agencies' representative. The combined results of the TYPO3 Agency Meetup Days will be published at the beginning of 2015.
The EAB gathered in a separate session to discuss the budget requests for the year 2015. With a budget availability lower than last year, the EAB has had a tough time finding the right answers and balance for all requests. They will contact the budget owners with a feedback in the upcoming days. The day ended with a more informal get together in front of a pizza.

Day 2 On the second day of the meeting, the EAB members, Michael Stucki, Martin Wiederkehr, Jonas Felix, Dominik Stankowski, and Jan-Hendrik Heuing (Peter Pröll was unfortunately missing as caught from a winter cold) explained to the Board their ideas and concerns regarding the budget. A quite long and intense discussion, which left the EAB with some homeworks to take along. In the afternoon we concentrated on the TYPO3 Association roadmap for 2015, while it is not finished completely, we could identify priorities in marketing, communication, and membership management. The Day 2 of our combined meeting ended with a feedback round about the two days together. Once again, the combined EAB and Board meeting has been hosted by Flagbit. A big thank you goes to Frederic Gaus and to his colleagues. 24 November - Open Source Initiative (OSI) Affiliation As mentioned in our <link http: typo3.org news article typo3-association-augusts-diary _blank to typo3 association august>August's diary, we applied for becoming an Affiliate Member of <link http: opensource.org node _blank to osi affiliation>OSI. The OSI Board voted unanimously to accept our application and has identified several opportunities and initiatives for the outreaching across the open source community. We are looking forward to working together and to supporting each other's activities.
