Interim report from the Snowboard Tour

Categories: Community Created by Peter Kraume

Last Saturday the TYPO3 community gathered again for the 11th iteration of the legendary snowboard and ski event. After a detour to Zell am See in Austria last year, the TYPO3 snowboard tour takes place in Laax, Switzerland again.

After having had bad weather on Sunday with cloudy conditions, wind and snow we now have perfect clear sunny weather since Monday. Additionally we have fantastic slopes with perfect snow. Further highlights on the slopes are the <link http: www.opensnowboarding.com _blank european>Burton European Open which takes place at the Crap Sogn Gion this week and the Radical Testing Day. The guys from <link http: www.radical-sports.com _blank>Radical equipped us exclusively with their fine handcrafted high-tech boards and skis. Radical joined us on the Crap Sogn Gion with a selection of their products. Testing the boards was awesome! Some people were even flying the boards instead of riding them.

Off-piste T3BOARD is an event where TYPO3 topics play an important role:

Sebastian Kurfürst presented TypoScript for TYPO3 v5 Phoenix and lead a discussion afterwards.

In a collaborative review session FAL, the File Abstraction Layer feature, was tested in detail to get it ready for TYPO3 4.7. Unfortunately some new issues arose that forced the TYPO3 4.7 release team to <link http: news.typo3.org news article interim-report-from-the-snowboard-tour development-report-file-abstraction-layer for>postpone FAL to version 4.8.

On Monday, a TYPO3 Certified Integrator exam took place on Crap Sogn Gion which is probably the highest spot on earth for this event to take place! Six brave testees found their way to the top and took the exam.

On Tuesday the traditional bug auction took place. Instead of bugs this year it was the <link http: wiki.typo3.org t3board12 bug_auction _blank>"Rent a Developer" edition where folks could bid on people to implement certain tasks like working on the typo3.org relauch, security reviews, improvements on Forge and Redmine or a ride with a PistenBully terrain vehicle. In total a 1020 beers were auctioned.

Unlike in previous years, not many images have been uploaded to <link http: www.flickr.com photos tags t3board12 _blank on>Flickr, yet. We are looking forward to many uploads.
