So, what now? Below you will find a FAQ list which may answer your questions!
If you wish to take this opportunity to say a word or two to me you can use the feedback form below or send me an email at godspeed@typo3.com. (Don't expect me to reply though)

Here are some questions you may wish an answer for. If you don't find all you concerns addressed, please write me an email right away so I can expand the FAQ list.
Q: Who is the new chief developer?
A: Michael Stucki who has been the core team leader for a long time now has the official "last word". Other than that it can be hard to identify a "chief developer" role since we have both maintenance of the current core and development of a new architecture going on.
Q: Will tomorrow be different?
A: In reality I have phased myself out of development over the last year, so effectively everything is the same as yesterday. Don't worry, we prepared this!
Q: What about all your extensions?
A: I plan to transfer them to some sort of "core team" user. This means my extensions are under control of the core team. Many other extensions developed on and off by multiple developers could benefit from a similar "neutral" ownership.
Q: Will you not develop anymore?
A: I still do consultancy like many of you do for a living and the code I write for the core or extensions will be public in the spirit of sharing (like I hope you do also :-). In that sense, I become more like a normal Web developer, working for a client and at the same time improving TYPO3. But this will not be my main business!
Q: Should I still donate money to you?
A: Depends on you motivation. If you donate money to keep TYPO3 development alive, you should rather donate it to a person from the community that you think deserves it. If you can't judge that yourself you can donate to the TYPO3 Association and the money will be spend where needed. If you donate money as a sort of backwards payment for the work I did in the past on TYPO3 I will gladly accept that of course. Link to the donation page.
Q: Do you still get royalty from the TYPO3 Association?
A: No, as from the second quarter of 2007 I don't receive any money from the Association. We decided to invest the money in the work on version 5.0 and 4.0.
Q: What will you live from?
A: I don't know yet. In the short term, I have some consulting, some donations maybe, a little savings. In the long run I will have to find a job I guess. I'm sure God will provide for me and my family. It's more important to follow my heart and sense of freedom than aim for materialistic standards. See my personal page with more information.
Q: Are you still an active member of the Association?
A: Yes, I'm even an honorary member which I think I am for lifetime... So it seems I'm hooked ;-)
Q: What will you do next?
A: Making TYPO3 was not just a 10 year adventure but also a sacrifice. My knowledge and perspectives are shaped by the narrow focus I have had to keep in order to pull TYPO3 through. I feel certain that I should spend some years on studies on a part time basis. I plan to do so in areas related to IT, but not necessarily coding. For instance I went to a university class this spring in the area of Interaction Design. This reinforced my conviction that I should spend even more time reading books and study to expand my perspective and regain vision; to get inspired.
Q: What about the other part time?
A: I will have enough to do; Making money, do voluntary work, relax with my family, maybe start the "TYPO3 old boys club" at TYPO3 events etc.
Q: Isn't posing as a King too self-important?
A: Absolutely! ... :-) but if you knew me you know I'm quite down-to-earth and self-ironic about my apparent guru status. This is just the way I like to joke around with it. I'm sorry I was so serious and didn't smile much in the vid... ;-)
Q: Was this the last podcast?
A: No, I still have episodes planned until summer and a while beyond that point. However, I can't say for how long it will continue. It's a funny thing to do, but it must also present new challenges all the time in order to be interesting.
