TYPO3.org mirrors
We now have the technical basis for mirroring the whole extension repository and therefore improve the stability and availability of important parts of TYPO3.org. In order to download an extension or documentation, the Extension Manager doesn't have to connect to TYPO3.org directly but chooses a mirror instead.
How to become a mirror?
Instead of providing a high amount of mirrors we prefer only a few geographically well spread and reliable servers. The criteria for choosing new mirrors from the offers we get are solely of technical nature. We therefore ask you for your understanding that we might not accept your offer for mirroring the TER because we already have a similar kind of mirror in our network.
If you would like to support TYPO3.org by providing a TER mirror, please contact Wolfgang Zenker and provide him with the details of your offer.
Installing a mirror
After we have sent you a confirmation for being an official mirror, you have to follow these few steps in order to provide a copy of the TER:
- Create a webspace with a publicly available (sub-) domain, for example ter.mycompany.com which can be accessed via http
- Send your public SSH key to Wolfgang Zenker which he will grant access for to our rsync server
- Install the little shell script (link follows ...) as a cron-job which runs each 1 - 5 minutes. It will check if the list of extensions at TYPO3.org has changed and runs rsync if neccessary
- After the initial sync, check if the set of extensions is the same like at TYPO3.org
- If all looks fine, send an E-Mail to Wolfang which contains the following information: Name of your organisation, URL to your repository, your country, a 135 x 45 pixel logo
- After checking your mirror, we will finally put you into the list of mirrors
