Basic layout rules

We have made a few select rules to allow for both strength and flexibility when using the TYPO3 corporate identity.

The first rule is the most important basic layout rule. All other rules are more flexible.

ALIGN LEFT
All paragraphs and all kinds of text (addresses, text, headlines, claims etc.) must always align left – with no exeption.

Think big
Use large point sizes for claims and feel free to use different font faces of Share together. It also is allowed to use different point sizes and cases, though only one size per word.

Please do not set individual letters in different sizes. Take care that no glyphs overlap when using a small line height!

Headlines and claims on color faces

Color it
Feel free to use the primary and additional colors for headlines and claims (see: The corporate colors). Use no other colors, please!

On black or white faces you are free to combine the primary and additional corporate colors.
(see: The corporate colors)
Please never use any other color!

On colored backgrounds (any other color than black or white) only use black or white for your headlines.

Headlines and claims on pictures

Basically headlines or claims on pictures adhere to the same rules as for normal headlines and claims.

If pictures allow feel free to use the primary and additional colors for headlines or Claims (see: The corporate colors).

IMPORTANT:
Use only the primary and additional colors. NO other color, please!
Always maintain good readability!

On complex or otherwise problematic pictures you can use colored background areas for your headline. In this case please adhere to the rules for headlines and claims.

If possible use unproblematic pictures (also see: Photo concept coming with the final version of this guide).

To maintain good readability or to reach a special effect you are free to use transparent color areas as backgrounds.

IMPORTANT:
Please assure you adhere to the previous rules:

Use only the primary and additional TYPO3 colors for the transparent areas.

If using primary colors (orange and green) for transparency only use additional colors (black and white) for the type!

A basic document grid

There is only one simple grid which is to be used in all common print documents up to DIN A2

The basic unit is 5 mm which is divided into two subdivisions (each 2,5 mm).

The starting point is the upper left corner of the document.

Margins for text paragraphs should not be less than 15 mm on each side of the document.

In smaller sizes (below DIN A5) margins can be smaller than 15 mm but are never to fall below 5 mm.

Basic column rules

Beside the one column layout you are also free to use two or thee columns.
Please make sure that the gutter is at least 5 mm.

With larger sizes than DIN A3 you are free to use more than three columns for paragraphs.
