The TYPO3 community is glad to announce that the official translation server has been updated to the latest version.
Remember, 4 years ago and with the move from ll-XML to XLIFF in TYPO3 version 4.6, Dominique Feyer provided an awesome enhancement to the localization workflow by bringing up a server and a user-friendly web portal named "Pootle". This translation server finally allowed every community member to suggest new translations in any language.
Over the years, the translation server welcomed more and more 3rd party extensions on it and quickly grew in size so that TYPO3 CMS and its surrounding TER extensions are nowadays the biggest Pootle install we are aware of. During those 4 years, Dominique and I managed the infrastructure on a regular basis and helped community members to get their own extension on it.
It is worth mentioning that during those 4 years, Dominique and <link http: ttree.ch>his agency Ttree actually sponsored the server to the TYPO3 community. Since 2 days ago, the server is now running an up-to-date version of Pootle and has been taken back to our own infrastructure, with the help of the TYPO3 server team.

Thank you

In the name of the whole CMS team, and the TYPO3 community in general, I would like to thank you very much Dominique for your countless hours of work and give a round of applause to your agency for having brought and sponsored this great tool for such a long time to our community. It helped TYPO3 keep its advantage over competitors in term of translation handling and ease of contribution.

What has changed?

  • Better streamlined user interface
  • New source files are now automatically discovered
  • TYPO3 CMS, starting from upcoming 7 LTS, may remove outdated labels and move files around while keeping everything in sync with older releases
