Insert News (tt_news) plugin to the page as usual. Select MOST_POPULAR option in he configuration.

If single view is displayed on the same page as most popular list, make sure that "PageId to return to:" is set on the "Other settings" tab to ensure proper updates popular list:

A new block must be added to News template file to ensure that most popular news are displayed. If this is not done, tt_news will display PHP error message (see bug report). Refer to "Administration" section of this manual about creating new section in the template.
