1.1. Introduction

What does it do?

This extension was written to manage directories, files, links, downloads and uploads to selected usergroups and to present them to your webvisitors.

The download files are supplied through the server, direct access is not possible as long as the files are outside the webservers range or at least users do not know where to find them. This makes it possible to restrict access to selected users. A webuser sees the base path as a root, the effective path is not visible.

The datapath can be adjusted in the backend configuration using flexforms, therefore the module can be used multiple times while using each time another configuration (ie. Other directory tree, other access rights).

There are 2 presentation modes:

  1. Explore mode = more sophisticated with access to all the optionsIt shows a complete directory structure where visitors can move around

  2. List Mode = simple list, usable as download listIn this mode:- Subdirectories are presented as titles- Subdirectory (one-level) content is presented as a download list   While in this list mode, no other options are available

Further options:

  1. File uploads can be restricted to defined usergroups,

  2. Definable helptexts (Files with extension '.hlp')

  3. Thumbnails of picture files

  4. External links may be defined and mixed in the download list inside any directory
