Core Work
Core work has been finished and published with TYPO3 3.7.0. Further changes have been done to the core that will be released withTYPO3 3.8.0.
Basic Database Handlers
The ADOdb handler has been tested on Oracle and PostgreSQL so far. Other databases should work, though this needs further testing.
Developers contributing new handlers will be supplied with the new source, example handler, documentation and all other necessary information. They will be contracted to produce the implementations with a minimum set of requirments within a certain timeframe to be determined individually.

DBAL will be published through a new TYPO3 version and various extensions distributed through the TER.
